Sinneli and Joshua’s ceremony at Lichfield Registry Office set the scene for a perfect city centre summer wedding day, hosted by the fantastic team at Staffordshire Ceremonies.
Their wedding fell on one of the hottest weekends of the summer, with temperatures in excess of 35 degrees, which made for some memorable sunshine filled moments for the happy couple and their guests, some of whom had travelled from overseas to be with them on their big day.
Sinneli and Joshua opted for a 3-hour custom package, plus a 35mm film photography add-on, to complement my standard digital photography.
“Wow, the photos look wonderful and are very brilliantly captured.
Many thanks for your hard work on the day to get so many good shots across multiple locations, all during the hottest day ever.”
Lichfield Registration Office
Lichfield Registration Office is located at the Old Library Building, on Bird Street in Lichfield, Staffordshire, and conveniently located next to Beacon Park. Its location means you’re spoilt for choice for convenient and picturesque locations post-ceremony to capture some amazing photographs, including the grounds of Lichfield Cathedral, Minster Pool and the Garden of Remembrance, to name a few of my personal favourites.
Built in 1856, and as s the name would suggest, prior to it becoming a registrations office in 2003, it first opened as one of Britain’s first free public libraries and museums, presented in a classic Renaissance style.
The venue hosts up to 50 people, with ceremonies taking place in an elegant, crystal chandelier-lit ceremony room, and is the perfect location for couples having a smaller intimate registry office wedding in Lichfield.
Lichfield Registry Office Ceremony Photography
My coverage started around 30 mins prior to the ceremony, which took them through to their drinks reception, which was perfect!
I always enjoy the build up to the ceremony, which in Lichfield often starts from over the road, with guest arrivals always making for some fun candid moments to document,,,
Sinneli made her entrance, walked down the aisle by both her mum and dad, before leading into a short but heartfelt ceremony, featuring a couple of family readings, and lots of happy tears…
After the ceremony, we all filtered out toward the rear of the building, into the beautifully presented Beacon Park, which provides excellent photo opportunities all year round, and one of my preferred location for a confetti toss…
Group Photos in the Garden of Remembrance
Post ceremony, and confetti toss, we all headed over the road to the Garden of Remembrance to take a handful of group photos. I suggested this location ahead of time, as it offered some relief from the overhead sun beating down on us, as well as the cathedral providing the perfect backdrop.
Although my photography style is predominantly documentary, I understand that formal group wedding photos are still important for most couples, so I always consult with my couples prior to their big day, to understand their priorities and to confirm the combinations that they’d like on the day - this means things are kept super relaxed and efficient on the day for you and your guests, and you don’t need to worry about anything on the day.
Relaxed Couples Portraits in Lichfield
Once the group photos were completed, all guests headed to their reception venue, and I took Sinneli and Joshua for a relaxed photowalk in the surrounding area their portraits, featuring the Garden of Remembrance, the Cathedral, and a lap of Minster Pool… We even stopped for a photo at the location of one of their first dates, a full circle moment, which was nice to document for them…
During the portrait session, I like to keep things super relaxed for my couples, as I prefer to photograph authentic natural moments, so whilst I’ll always step in to give offer some reassurance and direction, I’ll also step back when its not needed. This approach is perfect for those lacking confidence in front of the camera, as well as those who are a bit more naturally comfortable…
We then made our way down the high street towards St John’s House, for them to rejoin their guests, and enjoy some well-deserved celebratory refreshments in their lounge, where I focussed my attention on candid moments, before slipping away, to let them continue their celebrations into the afternoon…
Congratulations again, Sinneli and Joshua, and thank you for booking me to photograph your special day!
